Absolute Beginner Courses

Absolute Beginner Level I Course - Six Weeks Series

Our Absolute Beginner Level Course is your initiation to the Tango. We will focus on the fundamentals
in a series of 6 progressive lessons. Each lesson builds on the material taught in the previous class.
You'll learn, at the end of the course, all you need to know for your first social dance.

A final class review class and your first milonga (Tango Social dance) in week seven

The course will cover the essentials and you will learn to maintain your balance, body posture,
walk, lead or follow properly. During the course, the roles of leader and follower are
interchangeable (Gender Roles reversal will be encouraged to allow for the appreciation and
and empathy from the leader and follower's perspective)..

As a beginner you will learn the following Argentine Tango steps, patterns and figures:

01. El Abrazo (the embrace)
02. Cambio de Peso (Changing Weight in Place)
03. Basico (Basic movements - Stepping Forward, Backward and Sideways)
04. La Marca (the lead) - Basic lead and follow
05. Caminada (walking) in Open and Close Embrace
06. La Cadencia (The Rock Steps)
07. Salida and Resolution - How to start and end any movement together
08. The basic Tango step pattern
09. La Cruzada (the cross)
10. Forward and Backward Ochos (figure eight)
11. Introduction to the three rhythms of Tango (Tango, Vals (Waltz) and Milonga)

Class Structure

All classes are Semi-Private and limited to a maximum of six couples per class. Individualized instruction
and support is offered during classes and practica sessions based upon the abilities and interests of
individual participants.

Absolute Beginners Taster session is free when you take a Beginner Level class or
6 weeks Course. The Practica is free when taken with a class.
